About Dr Benjamin J. Herr
Having been raised in a home with Homeopathic medicine as the choice of medicine used by his family, Benjamin Herr grew up with a keen interest in the Homeopathic approach to healthcare. In his early years, he already showed an interest, gaining First Aid training and attending a course in Bach Flower Remedies at the age of 19 years old. Together with working in His mother’s practice in a junior administrative role before and during his studies. His mother being a Homeopath for over 50 years, before her passing, handed over this family practice to Benjamin after 7 years of partnership together. Benjamin has also had the privelege of working closely with other veteran Homeopathic Doctors, including Dr Herman Jeggels.
Upon this foundation, Benjamin went on to become a Homeopath by gaining his Master’s Degree in Homeopathic Medicine at the Durban University of Technology, later completing his compounding & dispensing license. From there he has been playing an active role in the profession on many levels. Benjamin furthered his studies in Biopunture and has actively implemented it in day to day practice. He has served as an elected member and Vice Chairman of the Professional Board for Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Phytotherapy on the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). He has also served as an active member of the Homeopathic Association of South Africa (HSA) and is part of the South African Society of Integrative Medicine (SASIM).
Benjamin has attended many conferences on Homeopathic Medicine both Nationally and Internationally and has been part of the organising committee for the Bi-annual South African National Homeopathic Congress hosted at the CTICC. It is through these efforts that he hopes to bring Homeopathic Medicine and the many benefits it has to offer to more people in South Africa.
Together with running a full-time practice, Benjamin is involved with education, working with 2nd and 3rd year UCT medical students on clinical case studies and as an examiner. He has also lectured on Schuessler Tissue Salts and Homeopathic Principles at UWC. Benjamin hopes to extend his practice into other areas of need as time allows from professional commitments and busy family life with his wonderful wife Sofia and sons, Seth, Zach & Mikhael. He has contributed significantly to Homeopathy in Cape Town and aspires to deliver the best practice of medicine Homeopathy has to offer.
