About Dr Benjamin J. Herr
Having been raised in a home with Homeopathic medicine as the choice of medicine used by my family, I grew up with a keen interest in the Homeopathic approach to healthcare. At an early age I had an interest in healthcare, gaining First Aid training and attending a course in Bach Flower Remedies at the age of 19 years old, together with working in my mother’s Homeopathic practice before and during my studies. My mother practiced Homeopathy for over 50 years, before her passing, handing over this family practice to me after 7 years of partnership together. I have also had the privilege of working closely with other veteran Homeopathic Doctors, including Dr Herman Jeggels.
Upon this foundation, I gained a Master’s Degree in Homeopathic Medicine at the Durban University of Technology qualifying as a Homeopath, later completing my compounding & dispensing license. From there I have been playing an active role in the profession on many levels. I furthered my studies in Biopunture and have actively implemented it in day to day practice. I have served as an elected member and Vice Chairman of the Professional Board for Homeopathy, Naturopathy and Phytotherapy on the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). I have also served as an active member of the Homeopathic Association of South Africa (HSA) and am part of the South African Society of Integrative Medicine (SASIM).
I have attended many conferences on Homeopathic Medicine both Nationally and Internationally and have been part of the organising committee for the Bi-annual South African National Homeopathic Congress hosted at the CTICC. It is through these efforts that I hope to bring Homeopathic Medicine and the many benefits it has to offer to more people in South Africa.
Together with running a full-time practice, I am involved with education, working with 2nd and 3rd year UCT medical students on clinical case studies and as an examiner. I have also lectured on Schuessler Tissue Salts and Homeopathic Principles at UWC. I hope to extend my practice into other areas of need as time allows from professional commitments and busy family life with his wonderful wife Sofia and sons, Seth, Zach & Mikhael. I have contributed significantly to Homeopathy in Cape Town and aspire to deliver the best practice of medicine Homeopathy has to offer.
